Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actor. She also sings. Her family was home-schooled by her mom in the USA. She was subjected to racial insults, she was made to feel unwanted. The confidence started to build in the ninth grade when she entered a school audition. She was praised by the judges for her vocal ability. This experience did not just help to boost her confidence, but also changed her outlook on life. At 22, she graduated from New York's Julliard School. In 1993 she made her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. Her biggest breakthrough was when she played the character in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway show Spamalot garnering not only her the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. In the following year she was cast in the role of Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gaining wider fame. Also, she is a well-known artist and produced an extended show. She is an activist who works tirelessly in the cause of LGBT equality.
