Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. The first Broadway parts include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career working alongside renowned actors and directors across the stage, film and TV and she is continuing her award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. In the form of a Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford, who will appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The group behind Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the helm of the show. Ashford was most recently seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the nation's first impeachment proceedings in Over an Century. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Additional Broadway roles include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford is now dividing the time in Los Angeles and New York.
